This year the festival of contemporary European theatre devotes thematically to the sound of music as well as to the tones within social and interpersonal structures. The guest appearances will demonstrate the strong, individual scripting of major directors and choreographers from all over Europe. In addition, companies that are still unknown will also be introduced. The focus will be again on discoveries from Eastern Europe. After five years of Carte blanche – the selection of a guest performance – which was performed respectively by a member of the artistic advisory council, this »White card« is now being passed on to an artist for the next stage. The renowned French choreographer Josef Nadj, head of the Centre chorégraphique national d'Orléans, will be launching this program this year with one of his own productions as well as a guest performance by the next generation of artists. |

The following companies will give guest performances at the euro-scene Leipzig 2011: Flota / Matjaž Farič, Ljubljana Competition »Das beste deutsche Tanzsolo« (»Best German dance solo«)
Dance is lavishly represented with choreographies by Josef Nadj, Orléans, with »Sho-bo-gen-zo», Israel Galván, Seville, with his »Solo», Palle Granhøj, Aarhus, with »2men2mahler« and Guilherme Bothelo, Geneva, with »Sideways rain« as final night. Josef Nadj chose the performance »E.I.O.« by Dragana Bulut, Belgrade, Maria Baroncea & Eduard Gabia, Bucharest, as Carte blanche, which was awarded the »Prix Jardin d'Europe« in Istanbul in 2010. The German performance group She She Pop will present its play »Testament« (»Last will«), which was awarded the Friedrich-Luft-prize 2010 and invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen (Berlin Theatre Meeting) 2011. As a magical children's piece, »Der Fischer und seine Frau« (»The fisherman and his wife«) by the Leipzig artists Berndt Stübner & Werner Stiefel can be seen. |

|||
The guest performances will be complemented by an extensive fringe programme comprising films, lectures and discussions. This includes, for instance, the films »Pina« by Wim Wenders and »Israel Galván, l'accent andalou« (»Israel Galván – An andalusian dancer« by Maria Reggiani. Gordana Vnuk, director of the festival Eurokaz, Zagreb, will give a video lecture on the different trends of theatre and dance in the different countries of the former Yugoslavia. The festival will have its own ticket outlet again this year. It will be in the festival centre of Café-Restaurant Telegraph at the Dittrichring as from Saturday, 01.10.2011. |
