Long time ago there had once been a love story whose chief characters were Adam and Eve. What remained of it? An emotional landscape that's dying off and indifference? How much woman is in a man and how much man in a woman? Nudity shows only outward differences and does not say anything about the layer beneath yet. Today, of course, much is strenuously concealed with foil, and in this stimulus satiated world of media one can hardly differentiate between reality and fiction. The archetype of the relationship between man and woman works now only rarely, but hope sprouts time and again to give love another chance.
Dariusz Gorczyca was born in Chrzanòw in 1966. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow from 1986-91 and founded the Teatr Sytuacji (Theatre of Situations) in 1987; initially as a student theatre. His productions balance between »classical« stage play, performance and multimedia-based show and often include painting, sculpture, graphic arts, drawings and objects. Gorczyca seeks a new aesthetics expressed in an expressive symbolism, a fusion of the acting performers with stage design elements and the inclusion of media. His plays belong currently to the most experimental theatre in Poland.
