Three people flee the pressure and hectic of the everyday. They dedicate themselves to the search for real life in nature. In a remote cabin they hope to find inspiration for their lost art of living. The silence, however, drives these urbanites into their own abysses.
»Ars vivendi« (Latin: art of living) sees itself as a counterpart to the piece »Ars moriendi« (Latin: art of death), 2010. The topic of the incomprehensibility of death is now followed by that of the fullness of life and the individual search for happiness. The music of the Italian early baroque period forms an important element. Its idyllic texts and vocal polyphonies form a strong contrast to the events on stage.
The company CapriConnection, founded in 2006 in Basel, comprises director Anna-Sophie Mahler, performer Susanne Abelein and dramaturg Boris Brüderlin. Mahler, born in 1979 in Kassel, studied music theatre direction in Berlin. She assisted Christoph Marthaler in Zurich and Bayreuth as well as Christoph Schlingensief in Manaus / Brazil, and has directed at various theatres in Austria and Germany. Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, an academy for early music, sees itself as part of the community of contemporary musicians.
